I loved the location of the hotel; however the rooms need to be updated. The air didn’t blow well but overall the room was satisfactory.

The room had a nice view and was very cean. Liked the location. The Urban Expierence daily fee is the most ridiculas charge I have ever seen in 40 years on travel.

Resided at Swissotel Chicago from 7/3-7/7. The hotel charged me extra wifi fee without my agreement. When I was checking in, the lobby employee didn’t tell me the wifi would be charged extra. They call it “urban experience fee.” I didn’t know this fee would be charged to my account until the day before I checked out. I checked my bill and asked three of the employees about what “”urban experience fee” was. They came up with THREE DIFFERENT ANSWERS: From one of the employees named Sharifa, “The urban experience fee is a fee that covers amenities/services that we have on site, Some of which include, basic high speed internet, local and domestic calls, Fitness center access, dry cleaning value of 12$, Shoe shining (upon request), and complimentary coffee in the lobby from 5am-6am. Guests are advised of the charge prior to confirming online reservations. Further, the fee is disclosed once more on your confirmation email.” I asked her if she could remove that fee since I was using the access code to access the internet. She said, “There was an internet charge in your folio. I have already removed it, and you won't be charged for the internet.” I thought it was all good. I saw my revised bill on the day I checked out again. I saw the “urban experience fee” again. Then, I contacted with one of the employees about it. Her name was Kia. She said, “ The urban experience fee is an additional tax that goes on every night of your stay.” At that point, I was already extremely confused about what they said to me. I told her that I thought that another employee at the hotel already got that fee off of my bill. Then, she came up with the verbatim text as what Sharifa said earlier. (“The urban experience fee is a fee that covers amenities/services that we have on site, Some of which include, basic high speed internet, local and domestic calls, Fitness center access, dry cleaning value of 12$, Shoe shining (upon request), and complimentary coffee in the lobby from 5am-6am. Guests are advised of the charge prior to confirming online reservations. Further, the fee is disclosed once more on your confirmation email.”). I answered her that I understood what she said, but I was just confused as to why it would be charged twice. Then, Kia was offline. Here comes another employee named Juan. That person said, “The urban experience is a daily fee and is reflected on your folio with four nights charged. Previously, your folio had the internet purchased separately as "Internet Premium Access"(this is the fee that has been removed). ” At that point, I already gave up on negotiating the fee by texting. I went to the reception and talked to another employee. I don’t know what her name is. She said that the wifi fee would still be charged even though I had used the access code to access wifi. Now, I clearly understood what the employees were saying earlier in the texts. However: I wasn’t informed or told by anybody that the Wi-Fi fee would be charged extra on my bill. It wasn’t shown on my bill before I checked in, nor was I informed by anybody or in any written documents/statements. Therefore, the lobby employee I was talking to removed that “urban experience fee” from my bill. However, my bank account still shows that the “urban experience fee” was included in my total. I needed to contact the bank to claim it. I am very disappointed about the lack of communication of the employees, the lack of information about the hotel had given me, and the overall reliability of the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at the Chicago Swissotel. Considering that this is a very busy hotel, the front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating, specially Bernard; The location and views from this hotel are excellent. We would definitely stay at that hotel when we return to Chicago.
