The Swissotel is my hotel of choice when visiting Chicago quite frankly for the superior service and suites/rooms. The stay began with my emailing Ms. Melissa Marion the Executive Operations Administrator & Loyalty Program Manager a few days prior to mu arrival to enquire, like in the past I have done, if I could have a nice room for myself and my niece who was joining me this trip for a second time. Melissa is excellent and upgraded not only me (as a gold member) to an office suite on the 38th floor but also my niece to a similar suite also on the 38th floor. I had mentioned to Melissa that my niece had to write her first major paper for her masters program and that I would need a microwave in my room. Melissa arranged that I had one of the Suites that has an office and, per my reservation, that it faced both Lake Michigan and the Chicago River with the microwave I requested with wine and goodies but also for my niece, that I have reserved a river view room, she was also upgraded to a suite with an office to write her paper with chocolates as I had let Melissa know my niece loved, also with a microwave. This was such a nice touch that was something that my niece was so appreciative and made her time at the hotel so memorable. Melissa also left had written notes in both our suites which was a really nice touch. Checking into the hotel was such a pleasant experience. The staff always remember me which is always nice to see. Rika checked me in this time and, as in the past, she made ensured that the experience was really nice and pleasant. She confirmed that my niece's room and suggested I wait till she arrived at the hotel (which was going to be after midnight) to have my niece check-in and have that experience. Rika told me her room (which turned out to be a suite) was nice and to surprise my niece. And yes, my niece indeed was really pleasantly surprised and very happy. This is the kind of touch and service that makes the Swissotel standout above other Chicago hotels, so thanks also to Rika. We had breakfast in the restaurant each morning. One nice thing about the restaurant is the staff is constant. Alex remembered us immediately and she came over to greet us both which was nice and came back constantly to check in with us to ensure everything was well. Addrian, who is also a stable member of the team there, served us each morning. He remembered the drinks we have in the morning and my daily order without me having to even say anything. Addrian also remembered the Apple juice my niece orders daily at breakfast from our previous visit. His service was excellent as always and I can say the whole staff in the restaurant are super-efficient and very friendly. Addrian has been such a stable member of the team for the years I have been staying at the hotel, so he knows how to keep one coming back to the restaurant, which is a good thing. These are the things that make the Swissotel excellent plus the rooms and facilities and very nice and well maintained. All the staff are friendly, and we had absolutely no issues at all during our 3-night stay was, as usual, excellent.
